Hachinohe Regional Water Supply Authority

Hachinohe Regional Water Supply Authority, based in the city of Hachinohe, is a water utility that spans a wide area and was established by integrating 10 water suppliers in 1986. In total, its scale of operations consists of a water supply area of 800km2. ‚ht serves a population of around 333,000 through approximately 134,000 households, and has a maximum daily water supply of 110,000 m3 per day.
In 1968, water supply pipelines were heavily damaged by the Tokachi-oki Earthquake (MJ 7.8). In an effort to learn from this experience, various countermeasures, such as improving the seismic resistivity of water supply facilities and upgrading the emergency system, were adopted.

There exist three water purification plants (PP): the Hakusan PP, where water sources are taken directly from the surface water of the Mabechi and Niida rivers, the Kanisawa PP, where water sources originate from natural springs, and the Mishima PP, that consists of underground water sources. There are also a total of 41 distribution reservoirs, 37 of which are supplied with water from the Hakusan PP through an arborescent pipeline system. Since 1989, transmission pipes have been replaced with earthquake-resistant versions (S-type & S II-type) .

Water Rates

Water bills are based on one or two months of water consumption. Whether billing is monthly or bimonthly depends on location within predetermined areas established by the Authority. Water Rate Table (excluding 5% consumption tax )
